“Good things come to those who wait”
has long resonated with the residents living in the Seven Trees neighborhood of San Jose. It has been ten years since voters approved the Safe Neighborhood Park and Community Center Bond, committing $228 million for the provision of new and renovated community centers, play areas and restrooms throughout San Jose. Saturday, October 23, 2010, will be a day neighbors will remember as the day the new community center opened.

At the opening ceremony, almost 1,000 people created an atmosphere of “standing room only” excitement in the central Town Square as more people waited outside for the speeches to end so they could explore the new community center. Speakers included politicians and members of the community who had long been involved in bringing the new building to reality. “The Seven Trees Community Center is a sound investment in our children and the community’s future,” said Councilmember Madison Nguyen. “The Center will provide much needed services to keep our children off the streets, reduce crime, and provide a safe and recreational facility for our residents to call home.”
